Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 11, 2026 · Last updated: June 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Eric Schayes Ventures LLC ("ArgusForge," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit argusforge.net, purchase a license, or use the ArgusForge desktop software (collectively, the "Services"). Eric Schayes Ventures LLC is a New York limited liability company with a principal place of business at 25 East Street, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472. The "data controller" for purposes of GDPR is Eric Schayes Ventures LLC.
ArgusForge is designed to be privacy-respecting by default. The desktop application is fully offline. It does not send any telemetry, usage data, schedule data, or analytics to us or to any third party. The only personal data we receive is the data you give us when you purchase a license or contact us.
1. Summary (the short version)
- The desktop application is offline. No telemetry. No phone-home. No collection of schedule data or analysis results.
- The website collects minimal data. Cloudflare Web Analytics (privacy-respecting, cookieless) and standard server logs.
- Purchases go through Stripe. Stripe receives your payment details directly; we never see your full card number.
- We email you the license key after purchase. We retain the email + purchase record for accounting, tax, and support purposes.
- No advertising. No selling of data. No third-party trackers.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
When you purchase ArgusForge or contact us by email, you provide:
- Name (collected by Stripe during checkout)
- Email address (used to deliver your license key and provide support)
- Billing address (collected by Stripe for tax and compliance purposes)
- Payment information (credit card number, CVV, expiration) — this is collected and processed by Stripe directly. We do not receive or store full card numbers. We may receive a token and the last four digits of the card for reconciliation.
- Company name and seat count, if you purchase a Team or Enterprise license
- Content of any email you send us (e.g., support requests, sales inquiries)
2.2 Information collected automatically by the website
When you visit argusforge.net, our infrastructure providers automatically collect:
- IP address (for the duration of your request, then anonymized in logs)
- Browser type and version, operating system, and approximate country/region (from your IP)
- Pages visited, referring URL, and timestamps
- Aggregated, cookieless analytics via Cloudflare Web Analytics — no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, no advertising identifiers
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising cookies, or any cross-site tracking technology.
2.3 Information NOT collected by the ArgusForge desktop application
The ArgusForge desktop application is fully offline. We want to be explicit about what it does not do:
- It does not send your .xer files, schedule data, or analysis results to any server
- It does not send telemetry, usage statistics, crash reports, or "anonymized" metrics
- It does not require an internet connection to function (except for the initial one-time license activation, if applicable)
- It does not embed any third-party SDK, advertising library, or analytics library
License activation (if used) sends only your license key to our license server to verify validity, and receives a yes/no response. No file data, no system fingerprint beyond a hashed installation ID, no other information.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- To deliver your purchase. Emailing your license key, sending the download link, and providing receipts.
- To provide customer support. Responding to your email questions, troubleshooting issues, and providing version upgrades you are entitled to.
- To process payments. Through Stripe, including fraud prevention and tax calculation.
- To comply with legal obligations. Maintaining tax and accounting records as required by applicable law (typically 7 years in the United States).
- To improve our website. Reviewing aggregated, anonymous analytics to understand which pages are useful.
- To send infrequent product communication. Major version announcements and important security updates. We do not send marketing newsletters or promotional emails unless you explicitly opt in.
4. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases for processing your personal data are:
- Contract performance — to deliver the license you purchased and provide support
- Legitimate interest — operating and securing our website, preventing fraud, and providing aggregate, privacy-preserving analytics
- Legal obligation — retaining purchase records for tax and accounting
- Consent — for any optional email communication you opt in to
5. Sharing your information
We share your information only with the following categories of recipients, and only for the limited purposes described:
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing. Stripe is our payment processor and is itself a controller of your payment data. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, DNS, CDN, email routing, and privacy-respecting analytics. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Our accountant and tax authorities — for the limited purpose of preparing tax filings as required by law.
- Legal authorities — if compelled by valid legal process, court order, or to protect our legal rights.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not share information with advertisers or data brokers.
6. International data transfers
Our service providers (Stripe and Cloudflare) operate globally. If you access our Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Our providers maintain appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent) for such transfers in compliance with GDPR and other applicable laws.
7. Data retention
- Purchase records (including email + license key + transaction details): retained for seven (7) years to comply with United States federal and New York State tax record-keeping requirements.
- Email correspondence: retained for up to three (3) years after the last interaction, then deleted, unless the email is part of an ongoing legal or support matter.
- Server logs: retained for thirty (30) days, then deleted or anonymized.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: aggregated, anonymous, retained per Cloudflare's standard retention policy (typically up to six months at full resolution).
